Ulinzi Sharks brought to an end a decade-long dominance in the women's league
Both the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) women's league and the Super Cup titles evaded perennial winners Nairobi Water Queens this season, with Ulinzi Sharks playing for a double.
With a short break before the 2025/26 pre-season tournament, the Super Cup, coach Jack Ochieng is confident his charges have what it takes to reclaim their lost glory, having gone two seasons without a league title.

"It has been a great season, one that we were out to reclaim the title but luck was not on our side. We had prepared well to win all our matches because it is a winner-takes-all format, but we unfortunately lost our last match to Sharks, as they defended the league title," Ochieng told Mozzart Sport.
Sharks came into the season on the back of a maiden league title and won the Cup to double down on their new-found dominance over the Water merchants.
In the 15-team 2024/25 league action that was played in a round-robin format, Sharks carried the day to defend the title unbeaten.
The military side put to an end, more than ten years of Water calling the shots in the women's game.
Ochieng maintains that injuries had slowed his squad down in the last two seasons, with other key players unavailable due to different commitments.
In a quick rejoinder, however, he says this has opened doors for new recruits and he believes they will be a title-winning outfit come the new season.
"We are turning our focus to the Super Cup, hoping to win and get back to the top. We head to the competition heads held high, having achieved a second finish without some key players. The season was good for our rebuilding process as we got a few new players who got to gel with the rest of the team. We expect them to be at par as the new season begins," Ochieng opined.
The tactician believes the format of play expected to be adopted in the new season will not only add to the competitiveness of the league but also present comeback opportunities.
"Playing home and away basis has always given us the chance to regroup in the event of slip ups, something we missed in the just-concluded season. We are looking forward to that," Ochieng added.
